The annual international meeting is the most important of the various activities organized by the Society. The meeting has been held each October since 1989. There are usually more than 2,000 participants, and it is considered the largest scientific meeting in Korea, covering many areas such as molecular and cellular biology, fundamental biology, medicine and pharmacy, and agricultural and marine biology.
Winter Conference
At the Winter Conference, Korean scientists and students present their recent findings and have an opportunity for comprehensive discussions with other experts in molecular and cellular biology. Since participants number only about 400, the atmosphere is informal and favors discussion. Since the first Conference in 1990, it has been held in beautiful surroundings every February during winter vacation. Here, in addition to research presentations and information exchange, the participants and their families have the opportunity to form friendships through group activities such as mountain climbing and exercise.
English Scientific Writing Workshop
The English Scientific Writing Workshop was first held in July, 1994 for five days from July 4-8th. It's primary goal was to enhance English scientific writing skills by teaching scientific writing and editing skills; word choice skills, which could be applied to each section of a scientific paper; improved sentence construction skills; and effective paragraph writing techniques. Except in 1999, it has been held every year in mid-July.
