Ilchun Memorial Lecture
The Ilchun Memorial Lecture was introduced in 1994 to commemorate the work of Professor Ki-Nyung Lee (nicknamed Ilchun), a pioneer of Korean molecular biology. The Committee for the Ilchun Memorial Lecture handles all administrative affairs. Until 1997, the lecture was given every year by the keynote speaker at the Annual Meeting. However, since 1998, the lecture has been given every other year.
Academic Research Awards
Since 1994, the Foundation of the Mogam Biological Engineering Research Center has sponsored the Mogam Awards that recognize members of the Society who have contributed substantially to the advancement of molecular and cellular biology in Korea. However, these awards were discontinued in 2001, to be replaced by the Academic Research Awards of the Korean Society of Molecular and Cellular Biology. Of these, the Life Science Award is given to a Korean who has performed outstanding research in Korea and displayed creativity in some area of molecular and cellular biology during the previous five years. The Young Scientist Award is given to a member less than 45 years of age who has submitted the most outstanding paper to the Society's main journal Molecules and Cells during the previous three years.
Macrogen Young Scientist Award
Since 2004, Macrogen Young Scientist Award is given to a scientist under the age of 40 who has contributed substantially to an area of molecular and cellular biology.
Excellent Thesis Awards
To encourage student researchers, since 1995, the society has given this award to a student member who wrote the best master or doctoral thesis of a given year. Official members nominate the student candidates.
Excellent Poster Awards
Since 1997, this award has been given to the member who submitted the best poster at the Annual Meetings.
